HER EXCELLENCY MRS. FLORENCE B. AKONOR

Her Excellency Mrs. Florence B. Akonor is a career Diplomat who joined the Ghana Foreign Ministry in 1997.  Prior to her appointment as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Malaysia in 2022, Her Excellency was the Minister / Deputy Head of Mission & Deputy Permanent Representative to UNESCO at the Ghana Embassy in Paris, France.

Over the course of her career, she has served as Director of Americas Bureau and Information & Public

Affairs Bureau, Deputy Director of Africa & Regional Integration Bureau, and an Assistant Director of Middle East & Asia Pacific Bureau, International Organisation & Conferences Bureau, Africa and OAU Bureau and Information, Culture & Linguistics Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

Her Excellency has also served in Ghana Missions abroad as the Minister, Ghana High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa and Ghana High Commission in Ottawa, Canada. Minister-Counsellor, Ghana Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and First Secretary / Head of Chancery, Ghana High Commission in New Delhi, India.

Her Excellency Mrs. Akonor holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Affairs from Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD) of the University of Ghana, and Bachelor of Arts from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

She has undertaken a number of courses in:

GIMPA, Accra – Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation
