7 Oct, 2025 General

The High Commissioner of Ghana to Malaysia, Her Excellency Florence Buerki Akonor, on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, held a productive meeting with senior executives of AIROD Aerospace Technology Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia’s leading aerospace maintenance and engineering company, at the Chancery in Kuala Lumpur.

The AIROD delegation, led by Col. (Rtd.) Muhammad Suhaimi Ashari, Chief Operating Officer, and accompanied by Mr. Rustin Ramendra Nahulandran, Head of Contracts and Business Development, Ms. Sayidah Nafishah, Senior Executive, International Commercial Programmes and Ms. Siti Nural Hidayah, International Commercial Programmes Executive, discussed opportunities for cooperation in Ghana’s aviation and aerospace sectors.

Discussions focused on AIROD’s interest in supporting Ghana’s aviation maintenance and engineering programmes, including the rehabilitation of Ghana’s military aircrafts and potential collaboration on the Government’s initiative to re-establish a national airline. The company also expressed readiness to extend its technical expertise to civil aviation and aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services in Ghana.

H.E. Akonor commended AIROD for its continued engagement and emphasized Ghana’s commitment to building new partnerships with Southeast Asian industries in line with the country’s policy of economic diversification and South–South cooperation. She underscored that Ghana offers a stable and welcoming environment for strategic investment, supported by strong institutions and the country’s central role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The two sides agreed to maintain close collaboration, beginning with verification of project opportunities and a planned technical visit by AIROD to Ghana in November 2025. The High Commission will facilitate necessary coordination and assist the company in engaging relevant Ghanaian authorities.

This meeting forms part of the Mission’s broader efforts to promote technical and industrial cooperation between Ghana and Malaysia, and to attract credible private-sector partnerships that contribute to Ghana’s aviation modernization and industrial transformation agenda.
